What the app adds
Cloud rigs first, then your computer
It rigs on our cloud GPU while you have cloud rigs (3 free cloud rigs a month, 1,000 credits a month with Lifetime), then on your computer’s own graphics card, so running out doesn’t stop you.
Offline, once it has the AI
The first time it rigs on your computer, it downloads the AI (about 1.2 GB). From then on the AI, the skeleton fitting and the content check all run on your computer, without the internet.
Drop files on the window
Drag a GLB, FBX, glTF, OBJ, STL or ZIP onto the window to rig it. The rigged models you download land in your Downloads folder.
The app or the website?
They're the same rigger, with the same account, plan and animations. The app is for when you rig often, want to keep going past your cloud rigs, or work offline.

Installing it
- On a Mac, open the DMG and drag AFK AI into Applications, then open it from there: it's notarized by Apple, so it opens like any other app. On Windows, run the installer; if Windows says it protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.
- AFK AI opens afk.ai in your browser: continue with Google there, once, and the app signs in.
- Drop a model on the window. It rigs on our cloud GPU while you have cloud rigs, and on your computer after that.

To rig on your own computer, a graphics card with WebGPU: AFK AI checks yours the first time it opens. Cloud rigs work on any of them.

›Is AFK AI free?
Yes. It’s free to download and rigs with your afk.ai account and plan: 3 free cloud rigs a month on our cloud GPU, then on your computer’s own graphics card. Each download includes up to 2 animations for free; Lifetime (one payment) unlocks every animation, in the app and on the site.
›Does it work offline?
Yes, once it has the AI. The first time it rigs on your computer it downloads the AI (about 1.2 GB); after that it rigs there without the internet. Signing in and cloud rigs need a connection.
›Is it safe to install?
Yes. On a Mac, AFK AI is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it like any other app. The Windows installer isn’t signed by Microsoft yet, so Windows asks you to confirm once: if it says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway.
›Does it run on Intel Macs?
Yes: download the version for Intel Macs. Cloud rigs are the same on any Mac; rigging on an Intel Mac’s own graphics card is slower than on Apple silicon.
›Is there a Windows version?
Yes, for Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. It works like the Mac app: cloud rigs first, then your PC’s own graphics card.
›What can it rig?
Everything afk.ai can: people, four-legged and hoofed animals, birds, dragons, dinosaurs, spiders and insects, snakes and fish, each with its own animations to preview and export for Unity, Unreal, Godot or Blender.
